Hey Reader, It isn't always that our lives get wildly busier. Sometimes, our demands simply shift. Right now, my family is in a season of major shifts. My husband works two jobs. I take on gig work alongside my business. My oldest is navigating her senior year of high school, and my youngest—who is on the spectrum—is preparing for a big transition into school alongside his ABA therapy. On top of all of that, there is the invisible, day-to-day work: laundry, meal planning, managing schedules, and daily routines. That is the unseen overhead of life. The task itself might be small, but the decision fatigue is real. When your routines shift, your old systems quietly crumble. James Clear famously wrote, "You don't rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." If you try to run a new season of life using old systems, you end up running on pure exhaustion. When I look at the chaos of shifting routines, I don't try to fit myself into the leftover cracks of the day. I start by reverse-engineering my schedule around my 5 Anchors:
I lock those in first. Then, I build the logistics around them. This is not an easy task. But, I have found that when I don’t. Everybody loses. Everytime we add or take away from our lives. I reassess. It is not selfish to make sure you don't get lost in the shuffle of your own household, work, or day-to-day life. If your life has shifted recently, your systems need to shift, too. Start with what keeps you anchored, and build out from there. Talk soon, LCJ P.S.
